Abstract

The global food crisis constitutes a multidimensional challenge that affects social, economic, and political stability, including in Indonesia. This condition necessitates the involvement of multiple actors, including student organizations, to respond strategically to the issue. This article aims to examine the reconfiguration of the movement map of Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI) in responding to the global food crisis from a communication management perspective. The study is based on a literature review encompassing books, academic journal articles, reports from international and national institutions, and other relevant documents. The analysis focuses on identifying patterns of information management, issue framing, policy advocacy, and coordination with stakeholders. The findings indicate that communication management plays a strategic role in shaping public understanding, formulating contextual messages, strengthening organizational positioning in public and policy arenas, and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration. This article argues that strengthening communication management can serve as a critical foundation for HMI in restructuring a more planned and impactful movement strategy in addressing the global food crisis.
